The Tenerife Auditorium, the work of architect Santiago Calatrava, is framed within the postulates of late-modern architecture of the late twentieth century. According to the words of its architect, the origin of these forms comes from a free gesture of marked plastic intention, which transcends the artistic character of the interior activities to the exterior.
Schematically speaking, the building is composed of successive platforms from which the large curved volume of the Main Hall stands out, which becomes the generating element of the building in both its formal and structural aspects. The large canopy, placed at a height of about fifty meters, provides movement and flexibility as if it were an animated body. Under the platforms that surround the building, there are the institution's own annexes, as well as other complementary facilities that will make the complex a multipurpose center with possibilities for a varied cultural offer.
